MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Outline

To act as an individual practitioner for ultrasound scanning, providing a comprehensive and effective high quality First Trimester Obstetric Ultrasound Service and taking a lead role in positively encouraging and maintaining the highest professional and technical standards in all staff using personal example and constructive supervision.

To enhance existing obstetric ultrasound/ midwifery service clinical pathways and support the antenatal screening programme in conjunction with the national screening committee.

To perform First Trimester and Nuchal Translucency Scanning, in accordance with evidence based guidelines i.e. National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines

To be accredited by the Fetal Medicine Foundation for Nuchal Translucency Scanning

To act as individual practitioner for general Ultrasound scanning, necessitating workload prioritisation, reporting your own workload. To contribute effectively to the delivery of an efficient and responsive Ultrasound service.

To demonstrate partnership in professional development issues maintaining a high level of professional and high technical standard through personal CPD.

To manage the ultrasound workflow and ensure all data inputs are recorded accurately for both patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes.

To maintain and promote high professional and ethical standards of clinical practice ensuring all aspects of clinical governance are fulfilled.
