Buyer:
The position of Buyer/Negotiator will involve the following duties:
General Summary:
•Maximise the Profitability and Market Share of the Category
•To develop and implement Category Development Plans
•To manage the operational supplier, range, price and promotional activity
•Build strong supplier and customer relationships
•With direction from the category Manager- formulate and implement the Category Development Plans
•Reviewing product range on a regular and ongoing basis based on best practice category management
•Manage, monitor and motivate support team
•Gather, prepare and maintain market and category analysis
•Negotiation of required national promotional deals from the supplier base
•Maintain key supplier contacts for all operational decisions
•Ensure supplier base meets agreed performance criteria (e.g. EDI compliance and delivery service levels etc.)
•Ensure that margin target from suppliers is met
•Ensure service level from suppliers meets 98% upwards in conjunction with Re-order Buyers
•Meet all deadlines i.e. marketing projects, pricing, bonuses, BP meetings, television advertising, seasonal promotions etc.
•Negotiation and maintained of price file for all business channels
•Ensure that all budgeted monies are received from suppliers i.e. marketing activity, category management act.
•Take ownership for stock inventory and ensure profit improvement
•Maximize income when doing annual review of suppliers outside the top 20
•Maximize trading/ commercial opportunities i.e. negotiating purchase price and supply terms and conditions in line with company policies and guidelines
•Proactively participate in meetings i.e. department, company, cluster and other retailer forums etc.
•Implement new plans for bulk buying procedure i.e. if a large quantity is bought in there must be a plan for it's sell through before purchasing
•Ensure all credit claims are made re damages, returns etc
•Organising and running retailer trade shows as required to present category strategy , plans and products when required
•Developing seasonal supply plans to meet anticipated demand uplifts and down turns
•Developing and Managing the import opportunity to deliver real value & opportunity for the different selling channels within the business ( this may require overnight stays from time to time)
Experience required for the position of Buyer.
•At least 3 years previous experience in a similar Grocery Buying Role.
•The position will demand a focused individual who has the willingness to work within a Team Environment.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Strong technical skills. Strong analytical skills.
•Ability to work on own initiative. Ability to work on tight deadlines.
•Knowledge of Microsoft packages is essential, notably Word, Excel and Outlook
