Job Description

This role will be responsible for the management and development of the VAT compliance services for internal clients. The VAT operations leader will leverage capability and promote best practice with regard to the services provided
The VAT team is currently responsible for in total over 500 VAT filings (VAT returns, Intrastat returns and ESL) with an annual throughput of VAT amounting to 120 million euro.

Duties:


- Manage the VAT operations team


- Create SMART action plans for the team based on ES yearly guidelines and VAT compliance, track progress on completion and deliver resolutions within agreed timelines


- Continuous improvement of level and quality of employees


- Ensure resolution of open VAT audit issues


- Identify and deliver on opportunities to reduce VAT cash flow and outlays for the business



- Manage various ongoing VAT related projects


- Manage the VAT process compliance


- Develop and agree - on a periodical basis - service level agreement and key performance indicators with the stakeholders


- Monitor workflow against agreed timelines, ensuring agreed & measurable delivery of VAT compliance


- Continuous focus on identification of productivity & Process improvements leading up to an improved (Quality, cost and/or speed) delivery of service and output


Skills & Experience


- Preferably University Degree or equivalent with at a minimum of 5+ years of experience in VAT operations within a multinational environment


- Proven people management skills essential.


- Solid working knowledge of the EU VAT directive and VAT compliance


- Solid IT system skills with knowledge of an ERP system (Oracle)


- Ability to manage customer relationships in an international matrix organization working closely with Corporate Tax team


- Excellent communication skills and fluency (oral and written) in English are a must to be successful in the role. Additional languages will be an advantage


- Willingness to travel for business purposes (mainly EU)


- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential. Strong ability to structure and prioritize work and manage resource allocation effectively
