An international reinsurer providing insurance (life and non-life), financial services and other risk related business solutions with operations spread across 39 countries has an opening for a Reinsurance Claims Technician to cover off some maternity leave next year.
Job Description
Ideally commencing in February 2010, this is a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave and represents an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Reinsurance Claims Specialist to bring their skills and knowledge to bear in a standalone capacity.
Roles/Responsibilities
- To review claims for both proportional and non proportional treaties
- Claims verification
- Verification of Reinstatement Premium calculations
- Preparation of large loss reports
- Setting up of new claims in the IT system
- Processing claims payments
- Managment of claims records
- Preparation of data for IBNR calculations
- Handling enquiries from ceding companies, brokers and other reinsurers
- Liaising effectively with other departments (Underwriting, Accounting etc)
- Preparing retrocession renewal information
- Checking relevant items in monthly operation check list
- Managing qualifications for ceding companies, brokers and reinsurers
- Entering treaty information onto the IT system
Skills/Experience
- A minimum of three years prior experience in Reinsurance claims
- A sound understanding of accounting and regulatory specifics
- Excellent analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (team player)
- Ability to work on own initiative and willingness to take responsibility
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (particularly Excel)
