Pricing Actuarial Analyst - Payment Protection


Location: Dublin [Dublin]

Salary: €50000 - 70000

Job Description



This newly created role will encompass three main areas of responsibility:



  • Product Development
  • Underwriting
  • Portfolio Monitoring

This position will assist with building projections to enable the business to generate consistent, sound prices for new deals within the Payment Protection Insurance market.




Roles/Responsibilities



Assess underwriting risk and calculate appropriate prices for creditor and other insurance products
Identify and implement possible risk mitigants such as reinsurance and T&C's exclusion
Participate and provide technical advice on the tendering to prospects or renegotiation of existing contracts
Support the local sales team to meet business priorities and in new product development
Assist Analysis team to carry out investigations into the underlying portfolio experience & Drive re-pricing or re-structuring of existing unprofitable business lines
Review, Implementation & Control
Play key role in regional underwriting review Signing off or Re-structuring new business deals
Maintain controllership and drive closure of Actuarial issues during implementation of new schemes
Assist in the development / refinement of processes for tracking and control of insurance risks in the region




Skills/Experience



Proven experience within the Insurance industry
Fluent spoken and written English for day to day communication
Strong analysis and modelling skills
Business minded and profit aware
Strong communication and presentation skills
Effective in a matrix environment
Strong time management skills and goal driven

Desired Experience

General Insurance (Creditor, PPI, Personal Accident) / Pricing Domain knowledge
Exposure to Local Markets, Products, Structures

Data Extraction and Management Skills (e.g. from Mainframes, SQL experience)
Experience with actuarial/statistical tools and softwares such as SAS, R, VIP

Second language (French, German or Dutch)




Education / Professional Qualifications


Fully or Partial Qualified Actuary with strong Statistics/Numeric educational background.



Personal Attributes


An excellent communicator who is comfortable operating as part of a remote team in a standalone environment.
