A young and energetic Insurance provider with an international presence and a lot of scope for progression, seeks a nearly or newly qualified Life Actuary, preferably with some knowledge of the Payment Protection or Creditor Insurance market.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to conduct regular financial and actuarial analyses, including reserve valuations and financial projections, to design and price new and existing products and to provide actuarial and other support for company activities and to other departments as required.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Advise on actuarial and risk implications of new product initiatives.
- Calculate appropriate pricing structures in respect of newly designed products and carry out regular reviews of same in respect of existing products to ensure ongoing appropriateness
- Support calculation of actuarial reserves in respect of premiums and claims on a monthly basis for management reporting, financial statement and prudential reporting purposes.
- Help to maintain robust, stable and auditable systems for calculating the required reserves.
- Maintain models for financial projection, business planning and profit reporting purposes.
- Conduct/Supervise/Review actuarial investigations into the mortality and morbidity experience of the company, including the effectiveness of claims management initiatives.
- Supervise and coach actuarial trainees
- Provide actuarial support to other departments

Experience
What does the role holder need to have done before?
• Several years' life or general insurance company exposure
• Experience with/knowledge of creditor insurance products would be useful
Knowledge
What does the role holder need to know/know about and/or be qualified in?
• Qualified or nearly-qualified actuary
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Knowledge of VIP actuarial package preferred
• Knowledge of SAS programming preferred
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for life, non-life and reinsurance companies
