full time Risk & Compliance Manager

The training and standards department is a newly created function within the practice to enable the firm to deliver on it's strategy of excellence in client service, technical excellence, training and development and best practice in risk management policies and procedures. This role will report directly to the Training and Standards Director and the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the successful design and implementation of risk management practices and ensuring best practice in all regulatory and compliance matters. The Risk and Compliance Manager will also assume ownership for dealing effectively and proactively with in-house technical queries.

Duties & responsibilities



  • compilation and completion of all regulatory returns

  • implementation of all departmental compliance reviews

  • monitoring and implementing audit rotation

  • ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering legislation, including updates in laws and regulation; implementation of any changes

  • ensure engagement letters are up to date, and content and procedures are in accordance with best practice

  • monitor Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and ensure all staff meet regulatory body requirements

  • research and deliver responses to in-house routine technical queries in all areas of audit and accounting

Position requirements



  • qualified accountant with at least 2-3 post qualified experience in the audit or professional standards department of a large accountancy firm (top 10); ideally assistant manager/manager level a distinct advantage [this could also be mature individual with relevant qualifications]

  • excellent communication skills

  • strong technical competence and knowledge of risk management procedures

  • strong interpersonal skills

  • initiative and attention to detail
