Qualified Actuary Reinsurance/Investment

Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, this position will sit in amongst a small team of Life Actuaries and will involve looking at our client's investment portfolio and the Capital & Risk Management structures in place from an Actuarial perspective.

Roles/Responsibilities

This role is a combination of two key areas - Investments & Capital/Risk Management and the duties involved will include:

Looking at the asset - liability matching strategy - assessing the liability profile

Discussing the performance of portfolios with the Investment Managers

Actuarial Risk Management - examining the rating agency models (S&P, A M Best, Solvency Capital models)

Assisting the Pricing Actuary with guidance on investment target yields and appropriate interest rates to be used in pricing assumptions

Providing investment input with regards to the pricing of new treaties

Liaising with colleagues both internally (Valuations Actuary, Pricing Actuary, Finance Director & Chief Underwriter) and externally with offices in Germany and the US

Skills/Experience

Ideally our client is seeking a Qualified Actuary coming from a Life Insurance or Life Reinsurance (ideally) background, with significant exposure to Capital & Risk Management and with an interest in the Investments side of the industry.

Education / Professional Qualifications

Qualfied Life Actuary, either newly qualified or with post qual experience. Candidates having pursued or in the midst of pursuing their CFA qualifications in addition would be highly regarded.

Personal Attributes

A flexible approach to work is key as this individual will be expected to travel reasonably regularly to the US, mainland Europe and the Middle East. Individuals with a keen interest in the Reinsurance sector are highly desired.
