freelance Radio Transmission PLanner

My Client are currently looking for a Transmission PLanning Engineer to join their team for 8 months.

Purpose of the Posiiton:

- Design and planning of the Radio Access Transmission Network, supporting TDM/ATM traffic between cell sites and the Area Switching Centres.


- Optimisation and QoS monitoring of the operational transmission network to uplift availability for both voice and data.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Plan end to end connectivity for 2G & 3G consolidated sites



2. Optimise existing Transmission Network



3. Measure and trend QoS on existing RAN using DACCS and QMS systems



4. Traffic routing down to 64Kbts



5. Manage site shares, wind farm applications, tower swaps, notice to quit sites, event/temp sites and general Tx based queries.

Required:


Essential



1. At least 2 years Radio Transmission Planning experience with a major operator


2. Sound knowledge of PDH/SDH Line equipment and Microwave Radio Link design using IQ Link.


3. Cct routing down to 64Kbts.


4. Fully computer literate.



Desirable


1. University/College degree or degree calibre preferably from telecommunications or Radio Engineering background.


2. Knowledge of DACC's equipment's


3. Working knowledge of Ericsson and Nortel BTS/BSC equipment's


4. Basic understanding of 3G technology and ATM
